It’s not even February but we are convinced that a highlight of The Book Broads’ year will happen this Thursday. All three Broads will join the amazing supporters of The Writers’ Trust of Canada in a gala fundraiser in Vancouver. Kim and Angela recorded a quick podcast inspired by David Letterman’s top ten lists on all the great things about the Writers’ Trust Presents: Margaret Atwood.
Just in case you missed one, here’s a quick recap:
#10 Listen and watch the elegant and eloquent Shelagh Rogers of CBC Radio, our emcee for the event.
#9 Enjoy the rare treat of a party in the rooftop ballroom of the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.
#8 A lucky auction winner will receive a signed first edition of The Measure by Patrick Lane with the added bonus of a new love poem unseen by anyone.
#7 Rub shoulders with the literati glitterti in Vancouver including Graeme Gibson and Margaret Atwood.
#6 Bid to receive 12 original Lorna Crozier imagistic poems on postcards delivered one a month.
#5 Author, activist and all around interesting fellow David Suzuki will be there to receive the George Woodcock Lifetime Achievement Award.
#4 Raise funds so The Writers’ Trust can help aspiring Canadian writers find their unique voice.
#3 This may be your last chance to see Jane Mortifee, Joel Bakan, Linda Kidder and Rebecca Jenkins perform The Year of the Flood.
#2 Margaret Atwood will narrate the dramatization of The Year of The Flood. She may even sing. Laaaaa!
#1 Ultra cool thing would be having you there.
